Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is characterized by a number of symptoms,
the most common being severe exhaustion unrelieved by rest. CFS is similar
to Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS). The onset of CFS usually occurs
between the ages of 20 and 40. However, there are cases where the onset
occurred during old-age or childhood. The general prevalence of CFS is
about 0.2% to 0.4%, where women are more susceptible than men.
The symptoms of CFS include extreme, prolonged exhaustion that interferes with the patient's daily activities, headaches, impaired memory or concentration, non refreshing sleep, muscle pain (myalgia), pain in joints (arthralgia), sore throat, and tender lymph nodes. The cause of the disease is unknown. However, numerous studies proved the existence of a relationship between an infection with a latent virus and the development of the disease. For instance, studies showed that CFS patients harbor a much higher concentration of latent viruses, such as Epstein Barr Virus (EBV), Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and Human Herpes Virus 6 (HHV6), compared to healthy controls. These studies used a wide variety of measurement methods, such as antibodies reactive to the viral proteins, PCR, measurement in different tissues and blood, tissue culture methods, and more, and therefore can be considered as reliable. There is no known cure for CFS. As a result, the Center for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) writes on its website that "Nutritional
supplements and vitamins are frequently used by people with CFS for
symptom relief." Try the natural remedy Gene-Eden-VIR. |
